Say Yes To Colorado Prop 127!

On November 5, Colorado residents will vote on Prop 127, a proposition seeking to end the recreational trophy hunting of native wild cats, including mountain lions and bobcats. This practice kills hundreds in the state each year as part of a “recreational wildlife opportunity” — between November 2023 and March 2024 alone, over 500 were hunted and killed for their heads or pelts. Cats Aren’t Trophies (CATs) gathered over 180,000 signatures to put the measure on the November ballot and is seeking to mobilize Colorado to vote “Yes,” thereby banning trophy hunting and the killing of these majestic wild cats.

To raise support for these efforts, Big Cat Rescue and longtime pro bono agency partner PPK are helping CATs with a PSA poster series, two radio spots and social-first video leading up to election day.
With nearly half of the mountain lions killed being females who leave behind orphaned cubs with little chance of survival, the campaign centers around this heartbreaking reality, showcasing poignant depictions and narratives of a female mountain lion’s mounted head with a single tear falling from her eye — crying for the loss of not just her life but the survival of her cubs. The video combines the powerful visual with compelling and evocative copy to underscore the urgent need for action, while the radio spots illustrate the mountain lion mother’s perspective to humanize their harrowing fates.

This pro bono partnership with Big Cat Rescue is part of PPK’s steadfast dedication to using creativity as a force for good to drive meaningful change. By amplifying the voices of those advocating for animal welfare, PPK strives to help Big Cat Rescue and CATs protect Colorado’s wildlife and preserve the natural balance of its ecosystems.

The “Say Yes To Colorado Prop 127!” campaign is running through October and early November across Big Cat Rescue’s promotional events and social media ahead of Colorado's General Election 2024 on November 5.
